We are part of the "Church of England" and so we have a
Rector, Dave Robbins, and he is supported by 2 Church Wardens and an assistant
warden, then we have the PCC (Parochial Church Council) which is voted by the
people on the 'Electoral Role' of the Parish at the APCM (Annual Parochial
Church Meeting) and deals with "business matters". Phew! What a
mouthful!
On the other hand as two worship centres, we also have "St.
Mary's Leadership Team" and "CHS Leadership Team". Alongside Dave, we care
for the people and undertake the day to day running of the Parish. The
leadership teams are appointed according to their ministry within the parish.
Our Statement of
Belief:-
1.
We believe in the one true
God who lives eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit.
2.
We believe in the love,
grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and
judging the world.
3.
We believe in the divine
inspiration and supreme authority of both the Old and the New Testament
Scriptures. They are the written
Word of God and as such are fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
4.
We believe in the dignity of
all people who have been made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy
and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and
judgement.
5.
We believe in the
incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – born of the Virgin
Mary, truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
6.
We believe in the atoning
sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin
and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
7.
We believe in the bodily
resurrection of Christ, the first fruit of our resurrection; His ascension to
the Father, and His reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
8.
We believe in the
justification of sinners solely by the Grace of God through faith in Christ.
9.
We believe in the ministry
of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ
through new birth, empowers us for discipleship and enables our witness.
10.
We believe that the
Christian Church is the Body of Christ both local and universal and as such
there is a priesthood of all believers who are given life by the Spirit and
endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God, proclaim the gospel and promote
justice and love.
11.
We believe in the personal
and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God the Father; He
will judge all people and bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal
condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and a new earth.
