Church of the Holy Spirit

Church of the Holy Spirit has an informal family atmosphere with and all age, inclusive emphasis, and most weeks sees the worship led by a music group.  We welcome children to our services, but also recognise that many parents feel that they can’t fully relax with their children there, so, during the morning services parents are able to take their children into our crèche room where their children can play with toys, and parents can still feel a part of the service as they listen to it via a speaker.

All primary school-aged children are invited to join our exciting Sunday School with lots of fun and games.

For centuries the village of Widford has had a parish church where St. Mary currently stands.  A little over 50 years ago the people of St. Mary, Widford, realised that the new rapidly growing Westlands estate ought to have a place of worship easier to reach, so plans were set in motion to build Church of the Holy Spirit in Forest Drive.  So in July 1960 the foundation stone of CHS was laid.

CHS grew very tired over the years and needed major refurbishment so a couple of years ago we began major works.Scaffolding  The inside was completely gutted, insulated, windows changed and decorated.

The congregation of CHS joined with the congregation of St. Mary for several weeks while the transformation took place.  Now that the transformation is complete we are very proud of our place of worship.  Why not come along and see the changes for yourself?

We are now looking forward to October 10th when we shall be celebrating our 50th birthday.
